The Abruzzo is strangely still an unbeated land of rustic beauty. Like a rough stone that needs to be refined, this strong territory of sea and mountains, with traditions that have never been left over and with a cautious look to the future,is a land of proud but gentle people, formerly mainly shephers, with much to offer to the visitors. Same in the province of Teramo.; The Abruzzo is also a land of Parks: 3 National Reserves, symbolically represented by bears, wolves and other wild animals, in the National Park of Abruzzo and Molise, or the National Park of Gran Sasso and finally the one of La Maiella display such a wide territory lovingly and respectfully kept preserved, along with Regional Parks, Natural Reserves and Protected areas, that Abruzzo gained the title of Green Region.
The coastline of Abruzzo is varied,with long sandy beaches and wild shores.. The most famous Abruzzo sea resorts, here called the Seven Sisters, offer quiet and well organized holidays, perfect for family needs, as they enjoy also the refreshing air from the hills and mountains backwards.
The Abruzzo carry strong traditions and religiousness. Still celebrating the Transhumance, a former seasonal movement of the sheeps flocks from the high Abruzzo cold plateaux to the Apulia warm planes in autumn and backwards in spring, covering in lonelyness hundreds of kilometers along the paths called "tratturi", especially in National Park of Abruzzo and Molise, the tradition is recalled and reported to the visitors in museums and popular events.
The Abruzzo cooking is simple yet very tasty. Centuries of pastures have obviously developed a special skill in lamb cooking,. Lamb holds the leading role, but also lamb milk cheese, many kinds of honey, fresh home made pasta like the "Spaghetti alla chitarra" or beans or lentils soups, together with fish in the sea areas, all served with excellent wines, carry the genuine taste of a land of contrasts, proud of its traditions and wild nature.
