We believe that everyone has desired for once in a lifetime to experience
living for a period in an historical residence, rich in suggestion
and poetry. The Stone Wheels Villa is a marvellous property consisting
of a 1600 manor house and of several farmhouses one used by the
farmers who have over the times developed in this land the cultivation
of olives and grapes, still a precious resource of the Lucchesia.
The view from the property, at 400 mt a.s.l. is enchanting, the sea is downthere, beyond the mountains, giving the sight of the Gorgona Island in the Merditerranean in clear days.
The property has been carefully and lovingly restored by the actual owners, who have always aimed to keep its original charme and flavour, along with witnesses of the hardwork of the old farmers.
|
| In
the big and very well cared garden are still visible big stone wheels,
once used with the necessary help of work animals like horses and
donkey, as millstones for annual olive harvest. The owners have
recovered the ancient skills of producing exta virgin olive oil
and wine; actually the crops are kept in the cellars in ancient
big wine barrels.
The manor house has kept the old style while being equipped with
all modern facilities. the garden, big and well cared, is equipped
with elegant table and chairs for al fresco dinners and the 6x12
pool, facing the valley, has sundeck chairs and beach umbrella. |
 |
 |
The house is very big and suitable to host 10 people plus 1 more on an extra bed that can be added in the mansard.
The house is on terraced ground and on 4 levels.
The Ground floor is the entry level, with the entrance room with
a big fireplace, a living room with TV and fireplace, another living
room, a dining room and a beautiful old Tuscan kitchen perfectly
kept.
Few steps lead to the daily used kitchen, totally equipped with oven, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, to a laundry room with washing machine
and to one bathroom.
|
|
On Lower level a big living room with french doors and direct
access to the garden, the dining area with kitchenette totally equipped
with oven, fridge, dishwasher, then a big fireplace and a bathroom
with shower
On the First floor a romantic double bedroom with canopy, a double bedroom which is the passway to another studio single room, a double bedroom with bathroom with bath, a bathroom with shower and a single room with bathroom with shower.
On the Second floor a twin bedroom that can be converted into double, where a third bed can be added, and a bathroom with shower.

The house has been furnished with antiques and
traditional Tuscan pieces, in order to maintain the original spirit
of the property, which is also part of its great appeal.
The property includes also an independent apartment, with private entrance and parking, in use of the house care-taker. The estate is 4,5 kms far from the nearest village, where every necessary shop can be found, and from there 8 kms to the artistic city of Lucca. All the major interesting art and historical cities are at short distance.
|
The property can be reached easily through a paved road from the village and in the final part, 300 mt, unpaved to the house. Due to the bends of the road, it is recommended that guests pay every attention in crossing other vehicles, by using the car horn loud and often. The road is also suitable for medium size cars and not for big vehicles and vans.
The prices include: cleaning for 3 hours a day - 2 days a week and final cleaning, pool and garden maintaning.
Prices do not include: electricity, central heating and telephone, all calculated by meter.

If requested,
the maid can take care of the house for extra time for 10 euro per
hour and a cook can prepare meals for a charge to be agreed.
We suggest that the guests take some time to visit the area, the
Lucchesia and specially the city of Lucca, rich in history and suggestion
with traces of Roman and Medieval ages. |
|
To be recommended is also a taste to the local typical products,
such as the extra virgin olive oil, the many DOC wines, the spelt
and the chestnut flour, which was used instead of wheat and which
is the main ingredient for the delicious cake "castagnaccio."
