THE COAST OF TUSCANY
Appreciated Tuscan Seaside Resorts are the Mount Argentario promontory, with the nice village of Porto Santo Stefano, Orbetello and Porto Ercole, the Versilia with the luxury Forte Dei Marmi, Punta Ala with the Elba island.
But the long coast of Tuscany is dotted of villages and towns, almost all of good class and holiday resorts such as Capalbio, Castagneto Carducci and many other. The Versilia sandy beaches extend for miles, from Forte Dei Marmi, through Marina di Pietrasanta, Lido di Camaiore and Viareggio. Forte dei Marmi, frequented by the international jetset, has some wonderful clothing and design shops, and on Wednesdays the best open clothing market in the area, with designer shoes, cashmere, and clothing. La Versiliana is the cultural center of the Lido, with theater, ballet and concerts. Pietrasanta is the haunt of famous and aspiring sculptors and established artists (such as Botero).
