The Lower
and the Upper
Castles of Marostica
host town offices and a restaurant but the lager part
of the crenellated
fortifications
belong to the gentlemen that today permit us to spend our holiday
in one of the towers of this Historic Residence, a unique, splendid
and even fancy accommodation, a peculiar house out of any standard. |

delle Ciliegie (cherry
town), Marostica in Jazz, La partita degli scacchi (the
chess match
) are only some of the events taking place in this village
near Padua and not far from Venice, where it seems to be holiday
the whole year along. |

The
house
has been realized taking advantage of a part of the garden
rich of vegetation and with areas with light different levels.
The peculiarity of this property is the big number of marvellous
corners
created in the garden
near and far from the house to enjoy a dinner
out with a barbecue
(there are 3 in different places), or a couple of relaxing
Jacuzzi, or a walk or simply a sun-bath
of in relax.

A three levels ancient tower of the 14th Century, part of the fortification,
has been restored by the owner - an English, French, Spanish, Russian
and Roumenian speaking Architect that lives in another house inside
the area of the Castles - to be available for his guest.
A
bathroom
with box shower, 2 stone wash basins and hygienic services
covers the whole 22 sqm area of the ground floor.
On the first floor the double bedroom covers the same area with a
double bed with canopy, a wardrobe, lights equipment with 8 shades
of color, music and video CD system. |

This
room was used by the owner as a Photo-Studio in the 80's for hundreds
photo services for Elle France and still calls its original style.
On the second floor a Tyrolese
wood style bedroom
with normal sized beds hosts two children. A fireplace and
a wardrobe make comfortable this warm and large ambience. |

In an building adjacent to the Tower a large glass
window
abut to the medieval wall, encloses the livingroom
.
This area is very large measuring 40 sqm and contains a modern open
space kitchenette
with fridge, oven and all necessary facilities, a dining
area, a sitting area, a TV set and a double sofabed. In this large
space is a half bath with shower and toilet only. |

Outside a
woods
of bamboo, palm and olive trees, furnished with sunbeds,
is the theatre from which to contemplate a stage that is unique: a
rank garden, 5 towers, 2 castles and the crenellated fortifications. |

In
the park a glass-house has two Jacuzzi, one for hot and the other
for cold water, to permit hydrotherapy for a couple. In the garden
while bathing, watching without being seen, thanks to the type of
glass.
A very nice and large
greenhouse
among the trees is furnished with table and chairs for
a dinner in case of rainfall, to maintain the pleasure of the environment.
In the whole, the property and the whole hill lighted by 22 metal
halide lamps projector seems to be a set for photos. |
| A walk
on the 300 steps throughout the park on the hill is an effort paid
back by a nice solarium and the deck with table and chairs.
Marostica is an historical little town famous for the story of the
Chess
Game
which dates back to 1454 at the time of the Venetian Republic.
It happened that two noblemen felt in love with the beautiful Lionora,
daughter of the Lord of the Marostica's castle. As was the custom
in that time, they challenged each other to a cruel duel to win
the hand of Lionora. |

The
Lord forbade the duel and decided that the winner of a chess game
would have taken Lionora as wife while the loser would in any case
join his family, marrying Oldrada, the younger sister.
The game took place on the square in front of the Lower Castle with
armed living persons carrying the noble ensigns of Whites
and Blacks, in the presence of the Lord, his noble daughter,
the Lords of near counties, the noble court and the entire population,
honoured by an performance of armed men, fool-soldiers and knights,
with fireworks and dances and sounds. |
| Then tribulation
for the victory, fireworks and music according to the Lord's orders.
This event is repeated today just like the first time, in a framework
of sumptuous costumes, multi-colour banners, martial parades, exquisite
elegance.
The orders are still given to characters and cast today in the "Serenissima
Republic of Venezia" dialect. The show, with over 550 characters,
last about 2 hours. |
