A look on the Roman
Countryside. The country house stands on a two hectares hill surrounded
by an hazelnuts, an orchard and a natural source of fresh drinking
water, always flowing fresh from the fountain. The estate is bordered
by farmland and a lush forest behind in a pleasant rural landscape.
Immersed in the natural park Tevere - Farfa enjoys a stunning panoramic
view of the plain of the Tiber, the medieval villages on the hills
and the Monti Sabini. The original building dates from the late
19th Century, recently renovated and expanded, still retaining the
charm of old architecture. Testimonial An arch and the wall with
the original stones are there to attest the long life of this nice
house. Although the expansion, the property has maintained the harmony
of the old structure with the use of materials such as stone, wood
and brick.
The house is simply furnished with antique furniture and here and there one can find objects of peasant life.
The house is on two floors. it can accommodate 4 or 5 people and provides parking for two or three cars at the house.

| On the ground floor the large built-in kitchen is equipped with sink, gas oven, microwave. The crockery is totally hand-made.
In the, next to the kitchen there is a small cellar with a barrel vault in which is located the refrigerator, a washing machine and a small stone sink.
The kitchen has French doors opening to the patio, furnished with two comfortable wicker chairs and a large wooden table where you can enjoy your lunch deeped in the peacefulness of nature and light up by fireflies and by the street lights of the charming villages surrounding hills.
The garden in front of the porch is equipped with barbecue, sun beds and deck chairs.
The kitchen is part of a large livingroom with fireplace, sofa bed, television, and a comfortable and spacious table. The windows of this room are three large arches that frame the natural landscape that surrounds the estate.

The fireplace has a boiler thar heats very well the whole house and gives hot water, which otherwise is provided by the electric boiler. From this room has access through the archway to another room furnished with two sofa beds. This is the coolest room of casaletto pleasant for a rest and for an afternoon reading in the hottest season. The bathroom of this level has a Jacuzzi. Climbing the stairs you'll get to the master bedroom with a panoramic window and a French window opening to a terrace/solarium overlooking the woods. The bedroom is equipped with a bamboo bed, a cupboard and an old chest of drawers of old wood. The en-suite bathroom has a shower solarium. Rome can be reached during the day in about 30-40 minutes by highway with a distance of 40 km.

-2 km far and 10 mins walking to reach an riding centre where you can organize tours and horse trekking can be arranged for you Attractions nearby:
-Filacciano: charming medieval village of the thirteenth century, fully incorporated in the Dragon's Palace, is an impressive century structure built on the ruins of the castle of the 16th Century. In June, at the Corpus Christi, you can see the traditional Infiorata with a street covered with Holy images painted with flower petals.
-Nazzano and the Reserve Tevere-Farfa. The medieval town of Nazzano, on a rocky promontory overlooking the Tiber about 5 km far, is of considerable historical interest and natural beauty.

Great interest inspire the castle and the medieval church of St. Antimo, built on the ruins of an former temple dedicated to the goddess Feronia.
The real jewel of Nazzano area is the Tevere-Farfa Nature Reserve on which the town faces. It 'a large territory that stretches for 700 hectares. Are plotted different paths can be walked on which there are huts where you can watch the river and waterfowl.
Inside the park you can rent mountain bikes and canoes or reserve a boat trip on the Tiber, Ponzano Romano and the Abbey of St. Andrew in Flumine.

About 3 km sailing along the Tiber towards the north will find Ponzano Romano after 3 km. The viewpoint of the village offers a wonderful view of the Sabine landscapes and of the river oxbow known as the "fiasco"(the Roman bottle with a special design).
The town is full of noble palaces. The Abbey of St. Andrew in Flumine, founded by Benedictine monks in the eighth century on an earlier Roman settlement are of great artistic and tourist attraction. Of great interest is the Romanesque church decorated with beautiful marble tessellated and a ciborium of the twelfth century.

Across the Tiber is Stimigliano, medieval village where you can see the magnificent sixteenth century rusticated portal leading into the Orsini palace.

About 5 km from Stimigliano located in the countryside dotted with Roman ruins, the Sanctuary of Vescovio which dates back to the eleventh century while the crypt dates from the ninth century. The presence of a good restaurant is to be mentioned.
We recommand a visit to the following villages in the Sabine district of Lazio, interesting for the middle age testimoniances: Casperia, Fara Sabina, Cottanello, Sant'Angelo Romano, Palombara Sabina, Rocca Antica. In the house guests will find English brochures and guides of the places mentioned and of many other highly attractive natural and historical-artistic places. |
