This charming house is a portion of an ancient farmhouse, 2 km from the village of Tollo, a cute small town of 4000 people, in the province of Chieti, which looks to the Adriatic Sea on one side, at few km as the crow flies, and to the Apennines with the Gran Sasso (Big Stone) and La Maiella on the other.
Tollo inhabitants have developed skills in the
production
of grapes, fruit, olives and the famous Montepulciano D'Abruzzo
and Trebbiano wines.
It is located 150 metres on the sea level, 6 km from
the sea and 30 from the park of the Maiella mounts, with the
ski resort of Passolanciano. |
Barba
has independent access from
the road through 200 m of private path, The village is 2 km far and is nice and worth the visit, beeing its houses displayed in a sort of cross shape, following the ancient plateau. The village has an historic centre and several districts. The railways station is at 9 kms and public transport by coach connects the rail to the town of Tollo.
The nearest supermarket is 1 km far. |

On the ground floor the kitchen with hearth, a large
dining room and a large living room with French doors to the porch,
with view on the private garden and on the mountains.
Cutlery, pottery and plates are for 12 people.
On the same floor is a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower
and a laundry with washing machine. |
On the first floor a bathroom, a double bedroom,
another room with a French bed and a double sofa bed.
The house is very well
equipped with all modern amenities such as washing machine, dish
washer, refrigerator, freezer, microwave and toaster.

Barba has been restored tastefully,the rooms and the common spaces beeing furnished in a warm old countrystyle, with traditional fireplace for family cosy times.
Home cooking as well as trying typical local food in the restaurants of the area will be a tasty experience, as the main ingredients needed are first quality. Extra Virgin olive oil, home made pasta, excellent meat, specially lamb, fresh fish on the sea, and widely famous wines make the perfect meal, genuine and traditional.
