Just out of the fortified town of Monticchiello, in Val D'Orcia, The Cart is a typical Tuscan-Sienese gentry country house of the 16th century surrounded by one hectare vineyard, now restored and refurbished to become a high class villa.
The Cart is only 10 minute far from Pienza and 15 from Montepulciano, famous for its wines, in an area famous for cooking and of good cheeses production.

All around are Medieval castles, monasteries and towns with ancient fortifications, Renaissance art treasures and magnificent landscapes. At side is a National Wildlife Park.
Monticchiello, with its walls and the Tower "Del Cassero", still appears as the Medieval fortress that was part of the defensive system of Siena, much different from the near Pienza, beautiful example of Renaissance's town.
Many restaurants are dotted in the area that has also beautiful trekking paths in a typical Tuscan landscape with cypress and green fields.

This holiday viilla is characterized by the stone flooring outside, the stone arched doorways, the cotto flooring and the original wooden beamed ceilings and stone fireplaces. Window and French doors create a solution of continuity between the outdoor and the fresh, airy and well lighted indoor, with marvelous sight on the Tuscan country.

The high quality interiors are a scrupulous choice of antiques, period pieces and knick-knacks that together with the materials used to cover the easy chairs and for the curtains give to the ensemble a good sense of rustic style that assures a warm atmosphere and let no doubt about the personal tasty attention of the owner furnishing this nice house.

The house
Laid out on two floors, the house has large living spaces on the ground floor and outdoor too.

Ground floor:
- A large living room with fireplace and a piano.
the living areas are very large and elegantly furnished.
A French door open out to the covered stone paved outdoor dining area from which one can enjoy stunning views over the valley. A 12 feet heated Jacuzzi is on the other side of the covered area that is delimited by low walls with climbing roses and flowering vines it
Outside the dining area is the swimming pool (10 x 5 m.)

-A cosy study/library with comfortable sofas and TV and fireplace.
-A Laundry with washing machine and freezer.

-The kitchen is typical of the ancient farmhouses - not only Tuscan - where a large stone fireplace was used to cook the "ribollita" or "polenta" or grilling meat old manner, and in the middle a long wooden dining table where the family used to meet.
It is divided by the dining area by a brick arch and, off course, has also all modern appliances.

First floor
The beautiful stone staircase leads to the first floor where a sitting room has a comfortable sofas around a fireplace. In the sitting room there is a refrigerator and a hob to prepare morning coffee.
Next to the sitting room is the elegant Master bedroom with en suite bathroom with bath and shower, a fireplace. Four additional double bedrooms, one of which with double French bed, have access from the corridor. The fifth bedroom has a sofa. A desk and a spiral staircase leading to a low ceiling loft suitable only for two children.
Two bathrooms with shower complete the first floor.
All the bedrooms are well furnished with antiques and very comfortable.

Many windows, in the sitting room and in the bedrooms, have superb views across the valley.

3 hours daily maid service is included.
