The suggestive little town hosting the apartment Casa Fiorello, is beyond any doubt among the most ancient in Italy; Sutri is also called the "Antichissima Città di Sutri", which means the very ancient city of Sutri, as the very first inhabitants of the city were here on Xth century before Christ. The place was and still is strategic for its position on the State Road Cassia, on the way from Rome to Florence and the north, having on a side the mountains, the Vico and Bracciano lakes, and the roads to the sea on the eastern side. It is in the middle of Etruscan area, the so called Tuscia, embracing the northern part of Latium towards Tuscany.

Casa Fiorello has been built on the ancient walls of the city and faces the countryside.
The house has been recently totally restored and is tastefully decorated and furnished.
Casa Fiorello develops on two levels.

First level

A large studio room with sofabed for 2 and a bathroom with shower and a washing machine.
The room has wooden beamed ceilings and cotto flooring.

A staircase leads to the second level.

After few steps, the apartment opens to the large living room, with sofa, two armchairs, TV sat with DVD. This room has also high ceilings and elegant furniture for maximum comfort and relax.
On same level the door opens to the first double bedroom, with bathroom with bath, to the twin bedroom and to the kitchen corner, well equipped with dishwasher and with a dining table and chairs.

The house enjoys a very pleasant view towards south to the countryside and to the very important city monumental site, the Mitreo.

The Mitreo is an archeological area, in ancient times been the temple dedicated to the God Mitra, and lately become a very ancient catholic church, named Madonna del Parto, with various frescoes of the first Nativity representation of the town, and many others. The Nativity celebration have become a tradition for the town, with live open air theatrical performances every Christmas, when inhabitants of Sutri play St.Joseph, the Virgin, baby Jesus and all the roles of the religious event.

Of main evidence is the importance of the Via Francigena, where Sutri has always been a stage of this incredible historical itinerary on the way from Canterbury to Rome. Pilgrims of all age, since 11th century, used to walk for very long distances across ancient undiscovered paths, to reach their "Lost Heavenly Home". In old times it used to be almost the only way to travel across Europe, and now the impulse given to the Via Francigena, for the cultural value of the itinerary has pushed pilgrims and simple travellers to discover the pleasure of walking with no hurry along the beautiful cities on the way.

The town also gives the name to the National Park, as it is an area of great naturalistic value, with imporant archeological cites, like the named Mitreo and the ancient Roman Theatre, the Anfiteatro, where music and theatre events take place during the hot season.
In summer a big festival is dedicated to Beethoven and musicians play in the Roman theatre, in the Cathedral and in the Church if St. Francis, with visitors and estimators coming from Rome and Viterbo.

Important sites are also the Necropolis, where the Nativity representation finds its natural suggestive environment, just off the town and the beautiful Cathedral and the Church of St. Francis.

Rome is only 50 kms far and reachable easily for daily excursions. Guests will enjoy reaching the closest charming Lake of Vico or the bigger and suggestive Lake of Bracciano.

Many cultural and tradition events take place every year in this town, recognized as first quality by the Italian Touring Club with the Orange Flag. Important and very partecipated is the Traditional Beans Fair, celebrating the quality of this delicious local product. It runs for days in late summer.
The proximity of Rome and the many cultural, archeological and naturalistic events that can be enjoyed in town or close, make a vacation in Casa Fiorello a very pleasant surprise!
