Rome beach holiday in a Castle 8 km out of the Gaeta's Bay

A newly renovated apartment located on the side of the door of the 12th Century Castle, in the historic center.
Itri is a small village perched on a hill in the center of a valley surrounded by the Aurunci mountain chain, along the ancient Appia Roman Way, just 8 km from the sea of the Bay of Gaeta or the fisherman village of Sperlonga. A charming little village with storied domes, arches, small squares, towers and churches dominated by the impressive castle with its special walls.
The apartment is in the heart of the village on village on a stepped walkway and can be reached on foot in the interdict trafficking center. |
Key services are in the newer part of town, just a few steps away, where there are shops and services (banks, supermarkets, groceries, restaurants, bars, etc. ..)
Description
The apartment is on the ground floor of a building of the 13th century, an old mill in which the oil was produced with olives from Gaeta, which are still very wellknown for their good quality. Completely renovated, deployed on a single level with a small appendix downstairs where the kitchen is located, the property has been the subject of recent restorations, which have preserved the old charm, without upsetting the structure with modern solutions that would have crooked its atmosphere.

The careful restoration of the old millstones, stone arches, tiled floors, stone fireplace, etc. was all characterized by a deliberate and sophisticated "sobriety" that becomes its distinctive character.
The surface of the house is about 150 square meters, consisting of a large livingroom with seating area and dining area, with beautiful vaulted ceilings placed around a beautiful stone fireplace.A hallway leads to a bathroom with shower sink, toilet and bidet. On the same level are the two large bedrooms with double bed, a dressing room and a bathroom. The kitchen is downstairs.

The property also features a small patio with access from the hall while in front of the house, across the walkway and then separate from the house, accessed by a gate, a small pleasant private space paved with brick, surrounded by orange trees and lemon trees, vines and protected by stone walls: a place where total privacy is guaranteed, ideal for reading a book, have breakfast or relax with table, chairs and benches, with a typical outdoor cast iron furniture, chairs, benches and other.
The interior is deliberately simple and sober, suited to the house, its origins and its characteristics.
The apartment has a kitchen located in a cellar, a sort of "grotto" adapted to be a quaint kitchen. Four burner stove, separate oven, fridge / freezer, with the only drawback that can be reached only via one of two rooms. |

The space itself is essential, the dining area is dominated by the fireplace in the large compartment.
The apartment has a washing machine.
Distances to services and places of interest:
The best beaches are in Sperlonga and Gaeta.
The former is about 10 km, 15 minutes away via a scenic route that goes beyond the hills that separate Itri from the sea, while those of Gaeta, in the same distance, 10 minutes away, on the Via Appia.To be mentioned a peculiar and picturesque popular Flower Festival. |
| The entire coast, not far, Formia, Gaeta, Sperlonga, and farer to Circeo, Terracina, is a succession of beautiful landscapes, scenic drives, beaches, hidden coves, archaeological remains (Archaeological Museum of the cave of Tiberius, Mount Jupiter Anxsur) that suggest the appropriate visits to the south the towns of Formia and Minturno with the remains of the Roman presence (Minturnae theater, the port of Caposele, villa Ruby), and of course the town of Gaeta, with its picturesque historic centre and its beautiful beaches. |
