Marina
di Casalvelino, is located on the Thyrrenian coast,
close to Palinuro, a nice and holiday resort in the so called "Cilento",
90 km about south of Salerno.
It lies on the large plain of the river Alento, surrounded by the
Stella and Gelbison mountains on the back and the gulf in front.
The suggestive ruins of the ancient Elea - well known as Velia for
the Romans - are 2 km only far and can be seen from the little village. |
| Greek
classical comedies are represented during the summer in the Greek
theatre. An ancient tower rises on the top of a hill and looks over
the port and the beach, which is sandy on one side and rocky on
the other. To be mentioned a beautiful church entitled to Saint
Matthew and, on the hill, between olive trees and prickly pears
the medieval village of Casalvelino (the ancient "Casalicchio")
county town, which dominates the Sea on the Cilento coast and the
green high lands on the back. |

This
property consists of a villa with some apartments of two different
sizes:
Apartments
Star Fish, 4+2 sleeps, and
Sea Horse , 3+2 sleeps.
The large cshared garden has a parking area and is equipped with
tables and chairs, barbecue and a very useful shower, coming back
from the beach.
80 metres far the beach, 7 km sandy on one side and rocky on the
other. |

where there are also 2 beach clubs. The villa is located in a quiet
area.
Shops, Bar, Restaurants and Port in walking distance.

The kitchenette is well equipped with fridge, freezer, oven and
all necessary for a long stay. some apartments have washing machine,
while for others there is a shared laundry in the basement.

Excursions
Paestum is 50 km. far and the wonderful Certosa di Padula 2 hours
about. The Sorrentine peninsula 90 km. far.
Guided excursion to Capo Palinuro marine grottos, to Punta Licosa,
Infreschi bay and to the isle of Capri depart every day from the tourist
port of Marina di Casalvelino.
A very peaceful stay in this Sea resort on the Cilento coast, where
a good tourist organization and a particular mild climate create a
peaceful oasis.
The variety of the landscape and for the natural scenery of this part
of Campania will surprise you. The crystalline Thyrrenian Sea covers
its beaches and inlets. Its long beach strip is perforated by caves
and surrounded by ancient warning towers. It contains remote valleys
coursed by sparkling and little villages where life seems to run over
remote rhythms.
Sites to visit, not as rigid itineraries, but as an invitation to
travel in nature, abandoning your self completely to the suggestive
sceneries of Mount Bulgheria (mt. 1225), Mount Stella (mt. 1130),
Mount Gelbison (mt.1702), Mount Alburni (mt.1742), Mount Cervati (mt
1898), Gorge of the river Calore and Magnano, Gorge and rising of
river Sammalo, Caves of mount Busento and Morgerati, Caves of Castelcivita,
Caves of Pertosa, Marine park reserve of Punta Licosa, Sea caves of
Capo Palinuro and beach of "buon dormire", Oasis WWF of
Persano, Sea caves and natural port of the "Infreschi" and
Marina di Camerota, Town of Agropoli and Punta Tresino. To discover
this natural Eden, it is possible to go trekking and bird watching.
For those people who love the sea and the enchanting sceneries, there
is a motor board called "Cilento Explorer" that sails every
day from the touristy port of Marina di Casal Velino to visit the
numerous sea caves and the famous isle of Capri.
Cilento is harmony between land and sea, that reflects on the gastronomic
traditions for Cilentan people, joining agriculture and marine civilization.
Naples influence is present in this territory as well as the home
made pasta, particularly "I Fusilli" (thick spaghetti with
a spring form). Diffusion of sheeps and goats has always permitted
an excellent production of diary products and cheese: famous the "Caciocavallo"
(that has the form of a pear) which can be sweet or spicy; the "mortella"(mozzarella
twisted in a myrtle twig); and the esteemed "mozzarella di bufala".
Famous in Cilento is the olive oil. Well known are the figs of this
region, fresh, dried, with almonds or covered with chocolate.
Everything is included in the "atlas of typical products of Italian
parks" realized by " slow food" thanks to the ministry
of the place and to the defence of territory. The

The National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano Cilento ""
has been included by UNESCO in the prestigious net of biosphere
reserves.
The Cilento conjugates sea and mountain, east and west, north and
african cultures, it mixes people and civilisations and it keeps
the evident traces in its distinctive characters: Archaeology, nature
and traditions. Situated in the centre of the Mediterranean sea
is the park for excellence, and, the peculiarity of the sea is found
in its biodiversity. It contains community of plants and animals,
from marine shapes to terrestrial arid semi arid, northern, Atlantic,
Asiatic, hilly and high mountains. It represents with its intact
coasts rich of inlets and caves, in its mountains interested by
carsic phenomenon, in its unique vegetal species, an area of natural
beauty. |
