The house,
dating from the end of 17th century, as engraved on a stone in the
“Hall of The Vaults”, belonged to a prelate living in Ortelle.
The first room was built in the early twentieth century, as appears
from the style of the façade on the entry and was a carpenter's
workshop until a few decades ago, as testifies the old front door
on which the old paint have been waxed to preserve the memory of
the place. |
 |
 |
A working fireplace and three splitter
on/off heating or freezing make the first room very cosy. From here
you access the rest of the house and through a typical old staircase
with a glass floor on the first step, which allows the display of
the typical basement, you enter the terrace.
The interior of the house consists of a first room with large vaulted
ceilings, typical of the Salento and Lecce stone finished. Each
room is equipped with a splitter on/of. |
The room leads to the room of the tub – the two rooms are also
connected through a window - where there's an old stone basin
that was used for the storage of oil or grain, now used as a bath
bathroom.
The room has an old tiled floor of the early twentieth century.
The room with tub is in facts a separated room, a living room with
vaulted ceiling and an antique bathtub lined with Bisazza mosaics
in various shades of purple eggplant, as well as the exterior of
the tank. The floor of the room is made of concrete coloured eggplant
as the bathtub. A door window access to a small courtyard and another
door gives access to the kitchen. |
 |
 |
Also separated by a wall of opal
glass with sliding doors is the small room of the primary services:
small copper sink, toilet and walls doccia. Le house are all in
lime putty and wax bee wax hot in the kitchen and bathrooms.
The kitchen has two French windows giving access to small courtyard
embellished with bougainvillea and jasmine.
On the terraces on the first floor stands the guest room with a
bagno. The room has a large window framing the cathedral.
Under the house with access from the street is a clean store where
you leave the bins for waste separation, as requested by local authorities.
