This beautiful villa sits peacefully
surrounded by century-trees garden and woods in the midst of a 30.000
sqm private park in Faggeto Lario, on the lake side of Como Lake,
just in face of villa Oleandra, the famous George Clooney's Italian
residence, in easy view on the other side of the thin branch of
the lake, in the village of Laglio. |
Villa Ortensia overlooks 10 km of marvellous
coast with impressive mountains on back, an enchanting panorama
on the lake from the terrace in the garden while tasting a special
dinner or sipping a glass of good wine.
Villa Ortensia is within easy walking distance (100 metres) of the
nearby restaurant and bar for your good-morning-capuccino. Half
km far the village of Riva (part of Faggeta Lario) with boat landing
pier where the passenger boat and hydrofoil depart to the many towns
and villages on the coast of Lake Como. |

General description
The Villa itself has three floors connected by a large staircase
tower and great balconies and terraces to enjoy the lake view
and of course eating al fresco.
Immediately outside the Kitchen and Living/Dining Room is a beautiful
large meadow with a balcony with table and chairs for dining "al
fresco" overlooking 10 km of lake coast, in the shadow of
two century-sequoia. |

A beautiful large sheltered and paved open space on the meadow,
abut to an earthwork, hosts a bread oven with a barbecue, sink,
table and chairs for 12 for unforgettable dinners outside. Stones
pave sagely and tastely the alleys around the villa, in the 3
hectare park, all developing front lake. |

The livingroom has a sitting area with 3 leather sofabeds with
a low glass table in the middle and a fireplace at side. The dining
area in the centre and a writing desk on the opposite side. From
the dining area there is access to the kitchen fully equipped,
to a bathroom and to the staircase tower that leads to the first
and then to the second floor.
On the first floor a double bedroom with a large terrace and two
single with French bed (cm 130 wide) share one bathroom.
On the second floor two double and one single bedrooms share one
bathroom. In total 9 sleeps but the French beds can each sleep
2 slim people or 2 children so total become 9 + 2 |
The district
of Como has a surprising rich variety of environments, panoramas
and settlements.
In few km the mountain give place to a lake, the wild Alpine valley
to the highly industrialized Brianza, the town of Como to the villages
made of few houses, the faunal oasis to the sky pistas. Lie down
under an olive tree in the Central Lake admiring the perennial snow
of the Grigna or, if you are very active, take a car to drive the
100 km in which the whole district of Como is concentrated. |

On the opposite side of the branch Laglio and Cernobbio are
2 km far from the Swiss border. The lakeside road also gives easy
access to the neighbouring towns of Pognana, Nesso and other to
mention a few, in half hour to Bellagio. Como, the principal city
of the Lake and Chief of the District is just 8 kms away. On the
same road, opposite side. |
| A short
excursion from the villa to the Upper Lario leads to some valleys
where no human track can be seen. They are beautiful like the best
National Parks, rich of wild fauna such as deer, chamois and roe-deer,
predatory birds and even the royal eagle. |

The big mass of water of the Como lake (410 m deep) influences
the climate of the valley favouring floreal breeding grounds and
the cultivation of laurel and olive trees, while the gardens are
beautified with palm trees and tropical plants, particularly in
the promontory of Bellagio, where the climate is similar to that
of the Ligurian Riviera. |
| All above regarding merely the rank nature, but
the the best villas built and scattered in the centuries on the
lake, many of them unique for their architectonic and landscape
value, the Romanic Churcies of the Middle Age almost everywhere
on the territory and the numerous fortifications, evidence of a
tempestuous and adventuresome past, enrich the small district exciting
the fantasy and securing a peaceful and stimulating holiday. |
