Casa Roberta is a two
rooms very quiet apartment, just restored in the heart of the old
roman district of Borgo Pio.
The area is attached to the Vatican: actually it was partially destroyed
when, during the thirties, it was decided to build a huge, emperor
like avenue, the famous Via della Conciliazione, to show the splendor
of Saint Peter's Basilica and its colonnade to the pilgrims coming
to Rome, at their arrival to Castel Sant'Angelo, which used to be
first the Emperor Hadryan Mauseleum, then the Popes' fortress. |
The area still existing
preserves the mark of the old papal town, with narrow streets in
which artisans still work under ancient shop fronts, many of them
showing warning notices of heavy penalties both with scudo (Pope's
money) and corporal punishments for who makes them dirty.
Borgo Pio is rich of bar, trattorias, groceries and small boutiques,
and the life ellapses quietly, reflecting the behaviour of the real
romans who still live there. |

A corridor, on which a small but
equipped kitchenette faces, leads from the entrance to the two rooms.
On the right the spacious double bedroom has two separate beds,
bed tables, chest of drawers and a puff.
On the left the living room has a dining corner for 4 and a sofa
bed with a second chest bed, with two comfortable mattresses 20
cms thick.
TV satellite and DVD player are available. Between the two rooms
there is the door of a very spacious cabin wardrobe.
The bathroom has shower cabin. |
Although
is not necessary, as the apartment was built with massive walls
assuring fresh temperatures during summertime, an air conditioning
system is available.
This apartment is equipped with safe.
Besides the Vatican close by, it will be very pleasant for the guests
to enjoy visiting the old and the ancient Rome, on one bank and
the other of the Tiber river. It is possible also to catch the many
sightseeeing tours by bus or a nice daily or night trip on the river
by boat. Stops of both are only steps away from the apartment. All
comfortable and handy for your staying in Rome! |
