Guided Excursions in Tuscany
Florence, Lucca, Arezzo, Siena, Pistoia, Siena, Arezzo
Florence, city of art, cradle of Renaissance and of modern culture, a precious casket in which is contained the great small town where your wit will be kidnapped by the beauty and richness of works made during Renaissance. Floods of words about Florence can be found on the books and on the web but no one can describe the feelings and pleasure that a visit to the city and its monuments will move in your soul.
The Duomo, the Battistero, David and prisoners at the Galleria dell’Accademia, Uffizi Gallery, Pitti Palace, Ponte Vecchio and tens of other beautiful visits wait for your arrival and be sure that will never move from their place!
The main historical towns in North West Tuscany are Lucca and Pisa, both within easy reach both from Florence. A wonderful combine of tranquility in the villages and hills, and cosmopolitan culture in the valley and coastal towns.
The Tuscan town Lucca is the only City-State (Republic) that preserved its own independence in Italy until the 1847 yr. The perimeter of 4.250 m. with 10 bastions, a platform and the betterments still in part preserved and restored testimony of the big care with which the Lucchese nobles defended their freedom leaving intact their Walls (XVI-XVII sec.).
The 3 hundred imposing villas mostly in the Lucca surroundings, are the historical countryside dwellings built by Lucchesi merchants between XV until XIX century amidst vineyards and olive groves, grain fields,
farmers houses and dwelling. Many villas are still preserved and lived by the owners or have been comfortably and elegantly restored to the original splendour, just waiting your visit and your booking
Many jewels are concentrated in short drive: Pistoia, the green Garfagnana, the Versilia and the spectacular Carrara marble quarries are all in short drive from Lucca and Florence is 60 km far in the opposite direction
The Versilia sandy beaches, famous for Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta, Lido di Camaiore and Viareggio is frequented by the international jetset.
Other appreciated Tuscan Seaside Resorts are the Mount Argentario promontory, with the nice villages of Porto Santo Stefano, Orbetello and Porto Ercole, Punta Ala with the Elba island.
But the long coast of Tuscany is dotted of villages and towns, such as Capalbio, Castagneto Carducci and many other, all good holiday resorts.
Tuscany is a very large Region and distances are quite big. Florence and Siena are 60 km far each other and are located centrally. From Florence toward Arezzo the Chiana and Orcia Valley (Val Di Chiana and Val D'Orcia) with their stunning views on their hills chain and the fortified ancient medieval village that follow each other are the best relaxing sites for the traveller in the Arezzo district of Tuscany. Castiglion Fiorentino, Anghiari, Cortona, San Sepolcro are only some of the jewels around Arezzo and the near Chianti area offers great wines and excellent cooking in numerous wine cellars along the route.
The Casentino, Tiber valley and Arno Valley ( Valdarno ) are in short drive.
